Bunting punting on a big season
Marshall Bunting has been appointed captain and coach for season 2014-15 after impressing everyone in his two years in the brown and gold.
A hard hitting all rounder, Marshall joined us from Elwood Cricket Club, where he has played all of his cricket after starting there at the ripe old age of 7…
For this season Marshall is aiming to improve the club’s performance. His aspiration is “To be a coach that makes the club stronger. One that can lift everyone’s personal standards and hopefully that leads to us being a stronger club. I expect the players to put more pride in their performance and the performance of the club. I believe everyone has improvement in their game, whether it makes a big or a small difference, it’s all about improving. I hope that the players want to improve.”
From a training perspective Marshall says “I expect training to be serious, while there are times to have fun, which I hope to focus on this year. We also need to know when we have to be working hard, and at training is one of those times.”
To take the next steps he said it will take “Hard work and a bit of luck. We need to be the best in all aspects of cricket. Not just batting and bowling, but fielding, professionalism, training and so forth.”
So how will Marshall go from being one of the boys to now being the boss and calling the shots? He says, “Good question. Avoid them? Get home before Dark!”
