Gators Say Goodbye To One Of Our Early Pioneers, Roy Thomas.

It's with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of one of the Mountain Gate Cricket Club pioneers, Roy Thomas, father of another Gators great Dave Thomas.

Roy became involved with the Gators back in the middle to late 60's, when Lysterfield Cricket Club, as we were then known, moved from Kings Park to H.V. Jones Reserve, which was just around the corner from where Roy lived, in the Moutain Gate housing estate. Roy played mainly seconds and was handy bowler and a very astute cricketer, which quickly lead to him being appointed captain.

Roy was also an active member of club, off the field, helpig where he could and was an early administrator of the club, at a time when our club was looking to establish itself in it's new home and grow to be a sustainable, successful club, which he helped it grow to be.

Roy and the Thomas family, have been active members of Mountain Gate Cricket Club and the broader Mountain Gate community since they moved to Mountain Gate in 1963. The Mountain Gate Cricket Club extends its condolences to Dave "Thomo" Thomas and the Thomas family.
