Seniors Round 12 Day 1 Reports

Firsts win on day one, with another strong bowling performance and another debut ton!

After the overnight rain, our match against Rowville looked unlikely. However the sun appeared by midday and their ground dried very quickly to allow us a full days play.

After losing the toss we were asked to bowl, and the entertainment started, with wickets and boundaries happening in most early overs. All of a sudden it was drinks and Rowville were 9/55, with Cameron Wheeler and Myself both getting 4 wickets. Rowville were bowled out for 77 after a good last wicket partnership, with Steve Dellar chipping in with a couple of wickets.

We started with a short session before tea, losing only Clint Buckland for 15. Our chase started poorly after tea with Mitch Goddard falling in the first over. Cameron Wheeler was then joined by Johnny Rozakis and they batted very well and put on a great partnership, during which we past Rowville.

Cam was unlucky to fall for 43. Unfortunetly we lost a few late wickets, including 3/0 in the last over. We finished up on 7/192, and without a doubt the highlight being Johnny Rozakis making his debut 100 for the club. It was great to see a third player make their first 100 for the season in just a couple of weeks.

We head into day two hoping to improve on our situation and hopefully Johnny can improve his overnight score.

The Twos set to pounce, after a great bowling performance.

The Twos are 1/57 in reply with Rowville's 120. Skipper Eraj Wimalaratna had a great day with the ball, taking 5/33 and was well supported by Kevin Atacador aka Guy Sebastion, aka Odd Jobs, aka Flipper etc, etc with 3/14 and Russell Wilson and Brad Croxford took one apiece.

Brad and Chris Harris are building a nice partnership and will be looking to carry the side to victory next week.

HOLD THE PRESS! The threes are looking good for their first win.

In the Threes, big Tom Griffin continued his great run of form, taking 3 wickets, as did Dane Heffernan. Rowville were in strife at 8/89, while Mountain Gate are 4/119 at the half-way point. Brett Tucker, free from Vets duties made a 50, while 'Big Sexy' Mark Argus made 23. The Threes are desperately looking for their first win and are beautifully placed to take this one out.

C'mon fellas, you can do it!
