Seniors Round 12 Day 2 Reports THIRDS WIN!
Firsts have an early day!
Having already passed them last week and with the temperature already reaching the mid thirties we decided to try and bat on and save as many people from the heat as possible.
Unfortunately that plan changed second ball of the day, with Johnny Rozakis getting caught for a brilliant 101. That brought Adam Heath in to join myself and with Rowville bowling well, we struggled and gave a few chances, it was Heathy who was then bowled leaving Steve Deller and myself to bat some time. Fortunately we were able to put on a decent partnership, with it being over 50, until I was caught playing a rash shot.
With over 250 runs on the board and a big lead. Opening the bowling with Steve Deller and Cam Wheeler, it was Steve who took the first two wickets, in fact almost took a hat trick with the hat trick ball being a quick in swinger which the batsman was lucky to get a sneaky inside edge onto it. Josh Lindner was the other wicket taker for us who came on and took 3 wickets in 3 overs. Rowville were 5/46 at tea and that was the point we decided to call it a day.
Overall it was a big win for us leading into a big game against South Belgrave this weekend
The Twos get the win, but, had to fight.
With three big changes in the team, the two's still had a challenge ahead of them playing 5th spot Rowville. Electing to bowl first, the gators got off to a good start with early wickets falling. Both with the ball and in the field, the gators showed sheer determination and proved why they are above Rowville in the ladder. The wickets were shared around with Brad and Rusty taking one a piece, Kev finishing up on a quick 3/14 off 5 and Eraj leading the way with 5/33 off 18, bowling out Rowville in the 46th over for 120.
With a few hours left in play, the Gators took to the crease and unfortunately lost an early wicket in Kallum for 4, leaving the gators on 1/57 overnight. Returning back on the second day, being a hot and dry one, the gators knew they still had a big task ahead of them and 60 runs wasnt going to come easy. There was a sudden tumble of wickets after Brad's controversial LBW decision, which then saw 5 wickets fall for 13 runs. The captain came in knowing he had to support the in form Chris Harris who was chipping away at the total, and the two had a solid 50 run partnership to bring home the win after a scare. Chris Harris continued his fine form and finished on 68, while Eraj supported him by occupying the crease on 5 not out.
THE THREES WON!!!
After a great bowling effort in week 1, the Gators brought home the bacon in week 2 and registered their first win for the season, great effort guys. Rowville were all out for 98 and we made 4/119 in reply.
Hopefully the threes can back it up with another win in their final game of the year.
